Melissa Mular has been a resident of Sandy Springs for 25 years. In 2022, she retired as a Technology Executive at IBM to focus on serving the community as a City Councilwoman. Living in the Autumn Chace community with her two rescue American Pitbull Terriers, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and fitness in her free time. Her long-term relationship of over 14 years provides her with support and stability, reinforcing her commitment to public service. Melissa's decision to run for City Council stems from her desire to sustain Sandy Springs' vibrancy and enhance its appeal as a place to live, work, and play. Her deep connections to local neighborhoods, combined with her extensive professional experience and City Council knowledge, make her uniquely qualified to represent and advocate for Sandy Springs residents.

Melissa has over 20 years of leadership experience at IBM, where she managed international teams and delivered multi-million dollar consulting services to Fortune 100 companies. Known as a transformational leader and "Change Agent," her leadership emphasizes collaboration, empowerment, and trust-building—skills that have proven invaluable in her role as a City Councilwoman.
Community Involvement and Understanding
Prior to her election to City Council, Melissa spent ten years on the Autumn Chace Homeowners Association board and committees, including a term as President. This role provided her with valuable insights into zoning and infrastructure challenges, the importance of balancing individual interests for the community's benefit, and the crucial role neighborhoods play in preserving Sandy Springs' character and quality of life
Effective Leadership on City Council
In her first term, Melissa has demonstrated responsive, collaborative, and results-driven leadership. She utilizes data-driven decision making, focuses on continuous process improvement, and engages strongly with constituents on both individual and community-wide issues. Notable accomplishments include installing pedestrian lights on Johnson Ferry Road through neighborhood collaboration and securing Council consensus, establishing connections between HOA leaders and City staff for timely resolution of impacts from infrastructure projects, preserving and relocating trees to the Library Reading Garden as part of the Mt. Vernon Corridor Improvements project, and adding this garden as new City green space in partnership with local officials.
