Melissa Mular has called Sandy Springs home for 25 years. In 2022, she retired from her role as a Technology Executive at IBM to fully dedicate herself to serving the residents of Sandy Springs as a City Councilwoman. Melissa lives in the Autumn Chace community with her two rescue American Pitbull Terriers, enjoying cooking, gardening, and fitness in her free time. Melissa’s long-term relationship of over 14 years has been a source of support and stability, complementing her dedication to public service and community involvement. Melissa's decision to run for City Council stemmed from her desire to sustain Sandy Springs' vibrancy and enhance its appeal as a place to live, work, and play. Her deep connections to local neighborhoods, combined with her extensive professional experience and City Council knowledge, make her uniquely qualified to represent and advocate for Sandy Springs residents.

With over two decades of leadership experience at IBM, Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge to her role on the City Council. Her career highlights include:

• Undergraduate degrees in Computer Science (Penn State) and Management Information
Systems (Duquesne)

Before her election to City Council, Melissa served on the Autumn Chace Homeowners Association board and committees for ten years, including a term as President. This experience gave her invaluable insights into:

Effective Leadership on City Council

Notable First Term Accomplishments include:
1. The installation of pedestrian lights along both sides of Johnson Ferry Road westbound from Brandon Mill Road to the Chattahoochee River by collaborating with neighborhoods and securing Council consensus
2. Established critical connection points between HOA leaders and City staff on infrastructure projects, ensuring prompt resolution of project impacts.
3. Worked with the Urban Forest Coordinator to preserve and relocate trees to the Library Reading Garden at the beginning of the Mt. Vernon Corridor Improvements project.
4. Added the Library Reading Garden as new City green space by building consensus with Council and in partnership with Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis.
